Well, I'm not making that allusion and if it comes across that way then I need to work a bit harder on clarity. Internet forums are a hard medium (see Poe's Law, for example). I think we're both undeserving of the award. Charitable work, even internationally, isn't what qualifies you. I don't think you think deserve one, but you drew a pretty deep line in the sand about Obama having done nothing and used yourself as an example of who deserved it more - so you kind of set yourself up for my response.
... and speaking of setting yourself up, I have no trouble believing that you're every bit of the prick you think you need to be.
I was joking when I said we might share it, and also in the previous sentence.
I also think Obama didn't deserve it, but I think he's done more than you or I. That's a hard sell from a domestic US perspective. It plays better out in the rest of the world. I can see why you disagree. Maybe I place a higher value on rhetoric than you do.
The only other feedback I got was DJ White "liking" my post which said we should shut the hell up. Also, my original point was that the Peace Prize thing was an undeserved knock and a distraction from real criticism and other things which mattered more. For me to spend this much time on a subject which I'm arguing isn't deserving of our time is pretty silly.
Are you saying he should just concede right now? He's a sitting president, with accomplishments he can campaign on, no major scandals, and an opposition party that has acted wildly irresponsibly. I'm not particularly happy with his record so far, but incumbency isn't a bad place to run from. Remind me never to hire you as a political adviser.
The bus tour (is that really what it is, or is that what the opponents and pundits are calling it?) feels completely like a campaign thing. That's sad, but in a way I'm amazed it's taken this long. From day 1, his opposition has made everything all and only about the next election. They have been more intransigent than any opposition I can remember.
Cheers,
