Bruce with all due respect, you're not being fair to yourself, or to science, if you take that position. The fossil record is at this point IMMENSE, with all kinds of what you might call "transitional forms" although that's really a bit of a misnomer. Asking to see every single fossil from single celled organisms all the way up to everyone alive today simply isn't plausible (The formation of fossils is actually a very rare event, the VAST majority of organisms that die will not leave fossils.).

But on top of being incredibly unlikely, it's also unnecessary. See, what's happened with the theory of evolution is that a hypothesis was proposed, and after decades and decades of research ALL evidence supported the hypothesis. Scientists said "If evolution by natural selection is true, then we should find fossils such as: A, B and C." And we found A B and C, exactly as predicted. Then we found D through X, and each fossils we found supported evolution perfectly. In fact, ALL the evidence that all the scientists in the world have been able to uncover has supported evolution, it's a better supported theory than a lot of others, but for obvious reasons people have trouble accepting it.

I digress, however. Let's say you and I walk into a bar and there's a body there. Let's say I tell you I have a hypothesis about what the cause of death was. Let's say my hypothesis is that he was killed by a gunshot wound to the head from a .45 revolver which he had fired at himself. You would naturally be skeptical and not take me at my word.

Now let's say as we search we come across; A .45 revolver, 5 .45 bullets, a suicide note, a .45 bullet wound in the man's head, a .45 shell casing on the floor, powder burns on the man's face and hands, a security camera video of the man shooting himself and a witness who said she saw him do it. At this point ALL the evidence we've seen supports my hypothesis of suicide via .45 caliber revolver. What you're asking in this thread is akin to turning to me at the bar and saying "I won't believe that's how he died until you show me where he bought the gun, and how much the gun weighs, and run a ballistics test."

Now, there's a VERY SLIM chance that the man didn't actually commit suicide, and maybe the ballistics test will reveal that. Just like there's a VERY SLIM chance that some part of the theory of evolution doesn't work in the way we now believe it to. But there has to be a tipping point where a rational human will say "Okay, there's no way to know absolutely for SURE, but there's plenty of evidence to support this belief."

We humans use this form of rationalization all the time. You might not be 100% sure that the brakes on your car work, but there's heaps of evidence that they do so you go ahead and drive on the highway. You might not be 100% sure your wife is faithful, but evidence has shown her to be faithful so you trust her. You might not be 100% positive that when you walk off the edge of a tall building, you will fall to your death (This is based of a scientific theory), but the evidence has clearly shown that you probably WILL fall to your death so you stay on the roof.

I don't judge anyone for their desire to believe in a god or gods, like I said, it's a personal choice and it's really based off what feels right to you. What I DO hate to see is a denial of reality/science purely for dogmatic reasons. I hate to see people on a computer developed through science using the electricity science discovered, living in houses engineered through science, built by materials created or harvested through science, making decisions based off the knowledge science has given them, posting about how they don't "believe" in science.
