Define "direct." Unless you can view every single organism between ancestor X and modern humans, then you're going to have "gaps." Fossilization is very rare, so that's obviously not going to happen, but that doesn't weaken the theory. That's like saying, "I'll believe in the cellular theory if you show me that every organism on earth is composed of cells." What I can say is that every single fossil ever found has supported evolution. None have supported creationism. Every analysis of DNA ever performed has supported evolution, none have supported creationism. We can't ever have every piece of data, it's impossible, but the fact that every piece of data that we do have supports evolution says a great deal. The fact that there's exactly zero evidence in support of "magic did it," also says a great deal. These are not competing explanations.

Yes, Texas is up there with Michigan in terms of recovery stats. You can say that that's because of strong leadership, or you can say that they both fell much farther, and that it's easier improve from a lower baseline. Either way, Perry's leadership might be responsible for their climb out of their current hole, but he was also running things when they found their way into it.

Re: Rick Perry is a raging idiot.
Much of Texas job growth is from policies awarding tax breaks and subsidies to companies to move to Texas or encourage job growth. Not exactly free enterprise conservatism at work there.
Texas also has a high proportion of government jobs.
And Texas accepted several billion dollars of stimulus funds to plug what would have been a massive deficit in their budget.
I'm failing to see how Perry is this revolutionary job creator or budget master. He pretty much follows the formula every governor does, republican or democrat alike.

+1, however there are still some big questions that have not been answered. Also religion is not scientific and science can not explain for it. They other day I watching a show called "I survived beyond and back". The show is about people that have had literally died and comeback to life. From what I watched most of them had been legally dead (heart stopped) anywhere from 5 - 20 minutes. In their narration of the events most of them speak of entering a another world, seeing a bright light, have a feeling of ecstasy, etc. Whats also interesting is that many of their stories have a lot of similarities. So how can science account for this?
Also remember that creationism is not believed by all religions. There are other religions such as Buddhism, who do not contradict evolution or the study of science. Just remember that science can only measure, evaluate and test things in are life but that doesn't mean that their isn't a different level of consciousness.
Edit: Also remember that scientist once thought the earth was flat.In a thousand years from now scientist may or may not have a different explanation for life on earth. And actually the origin of life on earth is yet to be discovered.

Pending circumstances, the brain is still very much alive and, to a degree, active when your heart stops beating and you cease breathing (aka you're clinically dead). Obviously research into this area would be highly controversial, but its not a huge stretch to imagine any information stored in the brain during this state would likely be unintelligible, leading to those sensations of "euphoria" or seeing the "bright light."
