I'm with Death on this one. I have no problem with China's one child policy, and I wouldn't have any issue with a similar situation here. Eventually, humanity will have to stop growing exponentially. We can wait until food and resource scarcity forces our hand, but that won't be pretty.

Yep.... Activists will continue to claim that we consume too much individually when the real cause of our slow decay is our population, and I don't think any country will establish birth control policies in order to prevent it anytime soon (China implemented it for economical reasons, so it doesn't really count). Proposing such a thing would be suicidal for any politician from any country. People would go batshit crazy about 'how the goverment is taking away their freedom', without having any idea how serious the situation is. We're gonna have to get to the very edge of the disaster before we start doing something.

I wasn't aware that mandatory birth control was on the political table, I took the OP's title as a tongue N' check thing.
Not that I wouldn't be against it exactly as the above posted world population levels are our greatest threat to human existence. Sticky topic to discuss though.Last edited by Pint; 09-04-11 at 10:19 PM.
