Re: Hell yeah Ron!!
....so he's anti-gay marriage. That's what I said. And he has even said he supports DOMA. He supports allowing states to "to decide" about gay marriage, which means ban. So my facts are quite correct. You're just arguing semantics.
Nope, I just paid attention. The Ron Paul supporters were by far the most fanatical during the 2008 primaries.Last edited by Fovezer; 09-24-11 at 08:51 AM. Reason: Apparently deathgod likes to edit my posts and add things I never put in it...

Re: Hell yeah Ron!!
There you're wrong. Grant you, he has said that marriage should be between a man and a woman. However, in the same sentence he also said that just because that's the way he feels, it doesnt mean that he has to push his belief on other people. And what the hell does accepting evolution have to do with a man's political views. If you are referring to the religious aspect regarding evolution.....well Ron had something to say about that as well. Last election and in this one, he has stated that he is a religious man, in a sense, but feels that religion should be left out of all things political. And he is damn right on that issue.

Re: Hell yeah Ron!!
You're the second person so far who has said that I'm wrong on this issue only to admit in the next sentence that he is, in fact, anti-gay marriage. And he doesn't say he doesn't want to push his beliefs on people, he says he wants to leave it up to the states to decide, which is ridiculous. If had held the same belief about civil rights back in the 50's and 60's, we'd still have legal segregation in the South. Not only that, but he supports DOMA, which is a federal law that defines marriage as between a man and a woman. So much for not wanting to push his beliefs on anyone...
No, I'm referring to the actual theory of evolution, which he denies. I have no idea what you mean by "religious aspect regarding evolution." To me, this is very important. It tells me he is willing to ignore massive amounts of scientific evidence and reject solid theories because of religion. I don't trust people like that.

Re: Hell yeah Ron!!
Being pro or anti gay marriage is not the same as leaving it up to the states. Its removing your personal views and saying the states are the ones that actually have to deal with it so they should be allowed to make that decision. I've never seen him say he doesn't believe in evolution or that he rejects scientific theories on it. It is possible to believe in evolution and still have faith in what the bible says.

Or he could go with the Libertarian platform of just "no marriage licenses period" (and no they don't specify federal or state).
Of course they even realize that (at least how the tax structure and all that is set up) its a pipe dream, and thus support legalizing gay marriage.
Personally I think the best solution is just calling all marriages civil unions, and get rid of the marriage crap all together. If you want to get married, you can go to the church and they can decide if you can or can't (they also shouldn't get public funds either but thats a different topic all together). Just like churches shouldn't tell the government what to do, I strongly believe the government shouldn't be telling what the churches can do (well thats reasonable, obviously you shouldn't allow human sacrificing etc. etc.)Last edited by Red_Lizard2; 09-24-11 at 01:33 PM.
