Okay okay, well if this is gonna be high drama --- let's look at it this way.

Does this not sound a great deal like Eugenics? As much as I may sympathize with a mother who, well, needs IVF -- at which point did we decide to make this industry so specific on expressed traits? Especially recessive ones. Holy crap! Are you afraid of having a redheaded great-grandchild?

This type of crap appalls me. Btw, the recessive trait for redheads, blonds, etc -- none are going to become extinct in the next 500-1000 years. Do the math. 6.5+ billion on this planet, even with the demographics of a 0.00001% recessive trait across the population we are looking at several million generations before this becomes a true anomaly rather than a statistical norm. (given no specific sexual selection or genetic bottleneck). Pretty sure we will be extinct as a species by then.

And by the sounds of it sexual selection will keep redheads reproducing for a very long time. !!!

Recessive genes can fall out of a population fairly quickly, 2060 seems soon but I remember reading a summary of a sexuality study that showed redheaded men being graded poorly by women while redheaded women getting a mild leg up. It takes two to tango when it comes to recessive genes.

But it would be a shame if we never had another Jilianne Moore or Julia Roberts, or Thomas Jefferson.

Reminds me of a joke.

Three blondes are jogging down the beach when one of them trips and tumbles in a spray of sand. The other two blondes stop to check on their friend when one notices what it was that tripped her up. The tripped blonde was helped up and said she was ok, and the three of them investigated what looked like an oddly shaped tea pot half buried in the sand. On picking the oddity up and dusting the caked sand off a giant purple genie shooshed out of the spout! You see redheads are middle of the road at best.
