Re: Leaving Iraq!
Obama did try and get an extension so that our troops could stay longer, but only if our troops would be granted immunity from prosecution in Iraqi courts, which their parlaiment overwhelmingly shot down. They want us gone, and rightly so. They have a lot of rebuilding to do and they have a chance to be a completely soverign nation for the first time in decades. However, i was talking with my cousin the other day and he has a few reservations about us pulling everyone out. He was an Army Ranger and served about a year and a half in Iraq running combat missions, training Iraqi soldiers, and still has several friends over there including his younger brother (recently wounded, but thank God for flak jackets lol). He thinks that pulling everyone out could make the country vulnerable. The Iraqi troops, although trained by the best, are undisciplined, quick to run from a fight, and often insubordinant. Thats coming from his first hand experience. Some have even been known to give intelligence to insurgents. All that aside, i do agree that we need to get out. Lookin' forward to seein our boys finally come home.

Re: Leaving Iraq!
That is very true but what happens if an someone similar tries to verthrow the current government because we pulled out to soon? We end up right back there in the fight. I agree we should pull out of the country but if peace is best served by staying a bit longer then that is the smartest call that could be made.

Re: Leaving Iraq!
Agreed but if we are the one bank rolling it and putting the troops on the front lines then we have more pull making the decisions. This however is a pull out on contract essencially. There will still be about 5000 there so its all good. We will still have the capacity to respond.
