Re: Police use tear gas and flash bangs on crowd of Occupy Oakland protesters
Previous demonstration in Oakland hasn’t been so peaceful. The most recent was last year the Oscar Grant Scandal. That really turned the East bay community especially the Oakland residents against the authorities.
Downtown Oakland where the protest was, Is The central Hub for the Drug/Maryjane movement. They have Oaksterdam and a whole bunch of dispensaries literally a block down from the protest. I only mention this because the drug criminals use it to their advantage. They are the ones who start the commotion or fuel the fire.
Letting people gather in group in Oakland is asking for trouble.

Yes, Oakland protests do often turn violent. Does that give police the excuse to throw flashbangs into peaceful protesters trying to rescue a guy who got hit in the head with a rubber bullet?
And I highly doubt it's violent because of weed. If that was the case the Berkeley and SF protests would have turned violent long ago... Oakland has a lot of very poor minority groups with a "Fuck da police" mentality. That probably has more to do with the violent protests than anything else.

Weed isn't the only thing they are selling. Oakland is no place to expect a peaceful protest. especially at night!
I doubt' ('I Know') the flashbang wasn't the cause of the riot, by that time is was no longer peaceful. Thing was they were at the wrong place at the wrong time.

Re: Police use tear gas and flash bangs on crowd of Occupy Oakland protesters
Scott Thomas Olsen, a 24-year-old former Marine who served tours in Iraq in 2006 and 2007, is in critical condition after being hit in the head by one of the projectile gas canisters fired by police at Occupy Oakland protesters Tuesday night. As protesters tried to help Olsen, a police officer fired a stun grenade at them, a video posted to YouTube appears to show. He's hospitalized with a skull fracture and brain swelling.
A marine who was exercising his right to assemble and his right to free speech after serving 2 tours in Iraq so that the rest of us could have that right... that cop is in a world of shit right now.Join the TPG Folding @ home team: http://www.teamplayergaming.com/pc-h...ding-team.html
