Are people inherently stupid?

So I get on Facebook and see this:

Disrespecting our flag and country is STUPID. There are soldiers fighting for you right now, fighting for our freedoms. They just need our support and not the negativity. If you aren't proud to live in America GET OUT. God Bless the USA, and the soldiers out there

Being the person I am, I said this:

By the first amendment, we are all allowed to protest which includes desecration of flags and disrespect for America.

After this, I was told to leave America (

Cool. Didn't ask for you to say anything. If you have no respect for America and what is going on why are you living here? Get out, pretty sure not many people want you here

) and that I was stupid for not liking our country or the troops. Also, that I was implying that I was protesting against American ideals.

So, as the title says, are people inherently stupid or is it just the populace that inhabits Utah?

Some are, for sure. Some aren't. There's a whole lot of wonderful variety out there.

From my personal experience, stupidity prevails in many aspects of Utah's culture.

I'm not protesting a thing, they're after people who protest war and soldier action as well as government policy in America. (Desecration of flags and disagreement with government.)

Because they're saying that you're a bad person for protesting and that it is never the right thing. I just said that, by the first amendment, we have the right to protest. I just wish people could read things correctly, that's all I'm after.

To answer your question yes people are stupid altho ignorant would be a better word. Desicrating the flag however tends to be more of a slap in the face to those that served for it not those that play politics under it. Flame however pointed out the flaw in your logic.
