Maybe I don't know, and certainly I've only seen these shows in enough snippets to know they exist, but aren't these sorts of judge shows not really state-recognized courts of law? My first-take impression of Judge Judy when I flipped past her some years ago was that she was an evil step-mother in a black robe who thought she had the wisdom of Solomon but was closer to the wisdom of a salmon. The procedure followed in her court seemed to leave out all the useful parts of formal court proceedings and substituted an attitude that someone needed a spanking; and the faster we decide who, the better.

I have no idea at all why anyone would ever choose to be on a show like that. If someone told me they weren't real people, but really bad actors who couldn't get any other work, I'd be tempted to believe it.

Cases are small claims type cases. The suits are real and judge is acting as legal arbitrator. Reality TV train wreck TV fair.

Yeah this girl lives in my area. I've seen her before but have no clue when or where.

Dude i just now figured out where i saw her before. Im almost positive i was talking to her at circus circus 2 years ago. She told me her age and i said i didnt believe her so she showed me her id. Thats fucking crazy. I knew she looked familar to me.
