Re: Wasted money?
but before we find ways to get there... shouldn't we figure out if any of these places are worth our time? Let them scientists do their work, it's only been a few years since we've been able to directly observe extra-solar planets, and months(?) since we managed to get a glimpse of telluric, earth-like planets, which is an incredible achievement to say the least, and there's so much left to discover.
No money used in order to get a better understanding of our universe is wasted in my book.SpecOpsScott liked this post

Re: Wasted money?
No. Now let me explain why. We have spent alot of money on being able to take pictures of places we cant get to. As such we have plenty of places already to go to. Its time to switch focus. We can already make really good cameras and odds are by the time we get a ship that can make the trip new tech will have given us much better ways to take pictures.

Re: Wasted money?
wrong. As for right now, all we know is that planets orbiting the habitable zone of their respective solar system EXIST, but we don,t know anything else about them (yet). We have no fucking clue how they are, other then their approximative size/mass. That's why we have to keep studying them, and develop new tools to observe their characteristics.
I don't think the guys who're going to make a 500 years trip to a new solar system would like to find out that the planet we've observed is, in fact, exactly like venusLast edited by chray00; 12-06-11 at 10:08 PM.
