And what would Iran do? Destroy everything we've done and put a Saddam like figure in power, only he'd be THEIR puppet. ANd the whole region will be even worse off than when we came in.

Like it or not(which I do not), the US staying there for the next five to ten years is probably the best thing that will ever happen to Iraq. That way they can rebuild their military to a strength not unlike what Saddam held before the Gulf War.

You can't build a military that can defend a whole nation overnight. How long does it take to train new officers for the US military? How long does it take for them to reach Colonel? Okay, cut that in half, since they're getting a LOT of experience in fighting.

Yeah. 15 years minimum. The longer it takes, the better it SHOULD get... with a whole generation raised under US rebuilding their nation.
