Looking for a design/interior layout program
Im in Kitchen and bath sales.... primarily bath sales. Kohler had this gem of a program on their site that would allow me to layout a bathroom based on dimensions provided by the client, and fill it with goodies like the toilet, vanity and shower, color it and print it out so they would have an idea of what their remodel or new bath would look like. The most appealing aspect of the program was that it was free. They are discontinuing the service at the end of the month.
I would really like to continue offering CG layouts to my clients as part of what we do for no extra charge, but in a brief search of programs i see stuff all over the place in price and function. So i thought i would ask the community here if there is anyone with some experience with a trimmed down design program that would allow me to do simple layouts and 3D renderings, nothing too complicated. And of course "Cheap" would help as i will have to convince the company that its worth investing in and supplying to 6 showrooms.
I have done a little research into whats out there, but most of what i find do far more than i need and at an expense that i will not be able to justify to the powers that be.
Anyone have some experience with a drafting/design program that might work for me?

Re: Looking for a design/interior layout program
SketchUp will be your best bet for free. There are tons of 3D models created by the masses for use. It is easy to use as well.
There are really good products from Autodesk but cost big money. If you need any help with this, I do this on a daily basis.

Re: Looking for a design/interior layout program
I thought of you when this situation came up. Im going to try Sketchup first, IT will be at my branch next week and i will have them install it then. The VP of marketing is all for it mainly because of the price tag. Doing designs like this is a new direction for us. Its been kind of a third rail because of the liability one assumes when they do a design. But, most people are visual creatures and if i can show them what their selections will look like it gives me a greater edge over the other showrooms in the area.
