Majoring in Comp. Sci. half-way through my 5th year of college, should graduate May 2013 (finally...). Looking into working as a software engineer for some start-up, or doing something at Bell Helicopter.

Re: What did you study? What do you specialize in? What do you do for a living?
Good thread xav. It is interesting to see what people have gone to school for and what they do. Personally i went for mrine biology but had to drop out like 4 classes before i was done. Sooner or later ill go back and finish just because i want the paper. Currently i do flooring which many here already know. I've been building and working on cars since i was 12.
So i can pretty much take a box of parts and build an engine with my eyes closed. Fixing has never been the part i enjoyed but building has always been exciting. Nothing like pushing yourself to see just how much power you can squeeze out of an engine. As an example my camaro. I took a 99 ls1 pushing 315 hp and got it up to 410 hp without replacing anything other then the flywheel and clutch.
Weapon systems were something i never gave a shit about until i was trained. From that point on its been a passion. So between cars and weapons i have 3 inventions that i currently lack the resources to persue. When the construction industry comes back i should be able to market all three.

Re: What did you study? What do you specialize in? What do you do for a living?
Went to Drexel University for 3.5 years for Software Engineering (had to leave due to my financial aid being pulled out from under me half way through a term)
Sever depression from that entire fiasco, 6 months of recoup (still haven't recouped)
Tried to transfer to Millersville University for Computer Science (a local cheaper college), 1/4 of my credits transferred, classes were repetitive and less in depth compared to Drexel.... In the process of withdrawing....
Currently looking for employment for either Programming, Software Engineering, or general IT stuff..... I'm generally a jack of all trades when it comes to computers, willing to move if there is a job.... anyone got any leads?-- Intentionally Left Blank --

I spent 2 years in welding engineering technology then switched to civil engineering technology for a 2 year degree.
I currently work for a construction consultant, doing testing and inspection. With the current economy I have most of the winter off collecting unemployment, daddy daycare and gaming.

Yea, really interesting...got a lot of capable kids around here...shit...if we invested our time together, as a group, working towards a specific goal....I think we could do a lot of crazy shit and make a lot of $$$$ in the process.
