This I have to agree with. I think he's a top 10 QB, but Ben is no longer an elite QB. IMO he lost that "eliteness" with a sub par Super Bowl performance against GB. Don't forget he also has the distinction of posting the lowest passer rating ever by a Super Bowl winning QB (the one against SEA). I get where you are coming from. However, I always take his first SB with grain of salt...he was 23...he also only made one bad play the entire game. He played completely lights out to get to the SB, racking up big numbers and big plays on the way to the big stage. His stats sucked, but he still made 2 of the 4 or so plays that won that game.


45 He looked fairly lackluster...1 int while getting blasted by an untouched defender(pump fake didn't help) and a 2nd on a hailmary at the half...watching that game(I've watched it 4 fucking times) there were alot of balls to nowhere...which usually means the QB and the receiver didn't read the same thing(this comes from 6 years playing WR in HS and college).

I disagree with only getting the hype for one game...he gets the hype because he wins ballgames. Most people use efficiency stats to measure how good a QB is...BR7 stacks up with alot of the all time greats in that department. He's still one of the most clutch(27 comeback wins, including playoffs.) QB's in the league.

I have a feeling alot of tunes are going to change with him in the next 2 years or so...he's had the worst O-line in football since Jeff Hartings retired and Faneca walked(05)...Pitt has been investing in the o-line finally and I imagine they'll pick up someone to replace the worst guard in football(LG Kemoeatu) with someone marginally competent. I have a feeling the Todd Haley hire will help out alot, as Bruce Arians scheme was pretty run heavy...and horribly predictable. I can't count the number of times in a bar everyone there called out the damn play before it was called.It was seriously a godsend whenever they were in a situation that he wasn't calling plays.

That being said, I could see him being 5 at this point...injuries are and will be a big concern until he gets a more solid o-line in front of him...and SB wins and appearances always make people move up on lists. I don't think I would put Big Brother Manning in the list right now...the type of injury he has is really hard and potentially dangerous to come back from.

He had an amazing play that year, in the AFC championship game. Jerome Bettis fumbled and he was the last guy between a turnover touchdown return and the end zone. He's in the open field against the guy and manages to pull his leg out from under him with one hand, enough that another Steeler comes in and makes the tackle. That's pretty clutch!
