My Idea for a Dune Prequal

Note: I didn't read any of the book and base my idea on the films and games.

And with that, I think that's what should happen, a film that brings in a bit more of the action of the games.

-the film should be set before the events in either film.
-The main story is the Emporer offers a contest like the games, three great houses offered to go the Dune to mine the most spice, no set rules or territories and all that.
-Harkonnen, Atreides and Ordos
-The Duke and Baron should all be young early 20's, old enough to play a role in the conflicts and develop and extream hate for each other.

A key feature
-a crazy yet cunning prince of house Ordos
-His father murdered by the leader of the Harkonnen
-the high ranking officals act to remove power from the prince, he's spend to much time on Arrakis; enjoying the killing and spice a little to much.
-the prince seeks revenge against the Harkonnens but can't obtaining without full contorl of his house, in a middle of a battle, when he near kills the prince of house Atreides, he invisions his usefullness in obtaining his revenge.
-A seceret deal is made between them, the Ordos prince will collapse House ordos from with in and supply the Atreides with the weirding module

Uh, beyond the Harkonnens winning Arrakis, that's as much as I got.

Just thought I would see what people though. No plans to do anything with it, just a dream flying high in the sky. So feel free to fire up the flack cannons and blast the fucking dream right out of the sky.

Interesting ideas, but there are actually 6 (I believe) prequels to the actual Dune series, which is another 8 (again I can't remember the exact number) of books.

Some of the prequel ones, the books based on the various Houses involve a young duke and baron which does play into their hatred of each other. The Butlarian Jihad ones also include reasons as to why the two families hate each other.

Sorry, I know this is information outside what you posted, but you should definitely read them, totally worth it. (Prequels are written by the son, but still decent).

I was actually introduced to Dune by Westwood Studios and Dune 2. I would have liked a film with more of a Sci-Fi gatatic conflict feel. Dune a great deal of character development to it, which is a bit of sticky issue, lose the story and the movies sucks, over do the action and it's poop. Fail at both and you get what I feel was the Tv series "Children of Dune"

Like I said I haven't gotten into the books, I fear I might get lost in the ocean of back story. That and its out of cycle for me. I couldn't even finish LOTR:FR because after so many months I just lost interest and focused on something different and shiny. Perhaps Dune is next in the cycle, Skryim is running thin. Who know's perhaps you see a Dune II mini building in a few months.
