...your car stereo dies.
Took off out of the parking lot at school and all of a sudden my radio stops, I look down and it says "protect." So I assume one of my speaker wires shorted, no biggie I'll fix it when I get back. Well I come back and unplug the speakers to see if it shorted. Unplug em, hit reset, "Protect." WTF?!?! So 3 year old Kenwood died today... Im never buying a refurb car stereo again... This one just hates me! CD player didnt work, now it dies... So I'm, going to be using my old 70's knob style again that pushes out no power... Unless someone wants to send me an Alpine, Pioneer, Kenwood stereo they got laying around :P But now I have to wait a month to go home and put my old 70's stereo back in...

Re: ...your car stereo dies.
I used to have a spare laying around, But then i had to swap it for my pioneer before i traded my old truck in, I do have the old pioneer from my current truck but its not what your looking for i kno that for a fact because i wouldnt have swapped it out if it was haha...So unfortunately i am no help, but i had a similar story, One day im driving home and i noticed that i couldnt bump lil wayne the way i used to, I thought it was just i was finally losing my hearing...So i payed no attention to it, one day i was working on my other car and had my truck backed in my driveway and noticed the right speaker wasnt working, thank god it had just got unplugged.

Re: ...your car stereo dies.
Isn't protect the mode they go in when it thinks someone tried to steal it? Or when the battery was disconnected for any amount of time.....
maybe I am wrong.... but it could be as simple as re-entering the secret button combo register thing I know some head units have...-- Intentionally Left Blank --

Re: ...your car stereo dies.
In this Pioneer means protect shorted a speaker or something inside shorted, something inside mine shorted...
And as to flame the 80 bucks JVC's dont have anything on the 50 dollart used stereo I bought. I buy a LOT of stuff used because I dont need the nicest newest stuff. In this case the Alpine I bought for 50 was almost a 300 dollar stereo 2 years ago. For what I'm doing it works great and sounds amazing!
