Re: Asian parents help...
I donīt think itīs racism...itīs a cultural thing. What my parents always told me to marry someone from Nicaragua (they are nicaraguan). Whenever we brought a Honduran girlfriend (I live in Honduras) they would be polite but not happy about it. These are neighboring countries yet there are so many cultural differences between these two societies. Iīm dating a Guatemalan girl now and theyīre happy about it because theyīre more similar to us, Nicaraguans. I canīt imagine if I brought a chinese girl or a black girl (there are almost not black people in Nicaragua) or an arab muslim girl to their house...they would definitely not approve. Americans, they donīt have much of a problem with. The problem they see with dating a girl that is not from your country is they have different values, a different culture altogether. And when you get married to someone the real problems begin to flourish at home, the women get homesick (if their family isnīt in the country sheīs living in), some cultural habits tend to clash with others and that can be a real tangible problem in a marriage or relationship. So itīs not about racism, itīs about culture. And another thing is social class. You see the difference in social class more accentuated here than in the States.

They flat out said. Oh well white isn't What we wanted, but better than black or Hispanic. Sorry but that is racism. I don't care about your color. It is do I find you attractive and so we get along. There are many things that can be discussed and worked out with time. People are too quick to give up and not try to work things out.

I donīt think they want a chinese guy because he has straight hair and epicanthic folds (asian eyes). Itīs got to do with cultural traits, not physical ones. Itīs not about race...at least not in my head...for example...Iīm latin american...yet I wouldnīt want to marry a Honduran woman...or a Mexican woman. Theyīre latin american as well, I just donīt like their cultural habits.

Iīll let you in on a little foreign secret: Foreigners generally see americans as ignorant, lacking moral and social values, dull, too liberal and ignorant. Yes, ignorant again.
This is the general idea foreigners, especially the older generations, have about americans. Who would want their daughter with someone like that? No one unless they disliked her.

I do love how "foreigners" don't think well of us. Yet something happens and they wonder why we aren't fixing it. I think it is total crap. Leave us, our movies, TV shows, our foods, etc alone. I think we can all come to a neutral agreement to just love each other and be happy. I love the differences in her culture.

Take your post and replace foreigners with whites and Americans with blacks, then tell me what you would call it. I am sure if it were posted the way I propose it would be called flat out blatant racism. Spin it however you want, but racism is not just white people thinking they are better than non-white people.
