04-03-12, 04:17 PM #1you can't be normal
All I want is not be sick, and to not have to deal with problems with my medications. 3 years on from starting treatment, I've yet to find a good solution in terms of medicine. Most recently, needed to increase dosage of anti-psychotic. Legs would shake so bad I couldn't walk. Then, the headaches started, like mind numbing constant, can't sleep, pain. Oh, and the only pain meds that work for my are opiates which means if I really need to do something about the pain, I get to use stuff that could fuck me up even more. Turns out the headaches were because my meds, when combined cause the anti-psychotic to not metabolize, which would have killed me if I had not stopped taking it. Of course, I'm still taking it via a step down program because there would be bad consequences of going cold turkey.
On a new med...it makes me narcoleptic. I'm scared to go walking anywhere and to drive. My only other options at this point that I know of are a med that my psychiatrist says has no major side effects but I would need to get bloodwork done every 2 weeks, which would get expensive to say the least. So, I'm thinking there actually is a pretty major side effect. Then, there's abilify, which is weak in terms of treating schizophrenic symptoms, freakishly expensive, and makes you feel like absolute shit.
I love my life...so much.
P.S. There is one other option. For about $3k, I can get a scan of my brain done and based upon that, have a custom tailored and expensive medication made for me. I know people who have done this, and they say it works great...while I have the money right now for the scan, money for the custom med would be hard to come by. I'm also pretty sure my insurance will not cover this at all.enf-Jesus its been like 12 minutes and you're already worried about stats?! :-P
Bigdog-Sweet home Alabama you are an idiot.
