    Re: Yay

Are you kidding me? He got elected off promises he can't keep or claiming he would start doing stuff that is already being done. He said he wants to triple the amount of music we have in rotation...6k songs. No, not like that would throw off the balance we currently have. Each song, at the very least, will take 6 minutes of work. He would only put in the time to rate 5 CDs every 2 months. He would lie to the music labels and promotion companies we liaise with saying we're playing a whole bunch of songs that he would never get to me. And, yet, he complains about the amount of music going in this year. He said the current system for giving out daily shows was cut throat...it's decided by seniority, class load, etc. He also wanted to completely change the format...as in the format that makes us so popular and successful, that the students like, that has been meticulously adjusted over the years to be improved using statistics acquired through scientific surveys. Oh and there were the parts were he was asked about his technical knowledge of computers...he said, yes, of course he knows a lot (in reality, he barely knows how to make his Mac work...he doesn't know anything about Windows or linux...if a computer problem pops up, rather than try to solve it or learn how to solve it, he throws a temper tantrum).

And one chick, I was told, made comments about how I'm not involved enough with the station...not like I put off going to the hospital last week to spend all day helping out at our music festival...not like I'm at the station constantly to make sure shows run smoothly and so that DJs can always get into the station to hang out and study...not like I only missed two events this year and that was because of illnesses.

Freaking aggravating. Fucking lies told and promises made specifically to get votes. It used to be that people were elected based upon who would do the best job and who could actually produce results. And no, I'm not running for POTUS or Congress, even though it would seem like I am.

Nice. Someone made the objection that I have pictures of women who look sultry as my computer background...these are the same people who watch Game of Thrones (you know, the show with lots of sex, violence, incest, sex, and more sex) in the station on the station TV.

And, to have these things said by people I've been nice to, that I've helped to teach how to do their jobs, that I considered my friends. It's highschool and sophomore year of college all over again. And to see the station, something that I love dearly, come to this? It used to be that people would work at the station for the love of the music and to provide a service to the students of the university. Now? It's all about money, power, and making resumes look good, which, TBH is stupid...you want power? Join SGA. You want money, get a job where you can work more than 20 hours max and get paid more than minimum. You want a resume padder? Get an internship in your field. Do research. Come up with a cool senior design project.

My one consolation is that TPG is still in good hands.

not to sound insulting and maybe i'm wrong but its college radio its not really a serious thing i'd imagine and college students arent the sharpest tools in the box i dont imagine college much differnt then high school its all a popularity contest with everyone divided into thier own little groups maybe you should just say fuck it to college radio and look into the real world if thats what you want to do with your life

I know this is gonna sound a little condescending, but what did you expect in the professional world? There are office politics in every job and industry and to be successful you're going to have to learn how to play. You may be the best at what you sp, but if no ones knows or if the people who matter don't know then its meaningless to them in regards to your performance.

People lie and backstab each other to get ahead. Learn to cya through emails and other written or probable methods. It sucks that this happened and continues to happen but you need to learn to look out for yourself in a professional manner. Welcome to the hardest game on earth...real world pvp.

    Yeah, lesson learned.

I guess I got spoiled at my first job, and the first several years here. Wishing I had stuck with that first job. Would have been able to get a thesis finished, been published, made double what I make now with better hours, and get to have some high ranking persons as personal references. Hindsight is 20/20.

    Re: Yay

Fucking had someone bitch behind my back because I didn't punish someone recently...I wasn't even there. She was. She did nothing. Yet, somehow I'm the one responsible for punishing the guy? a) I can't correct a problem I don't know about. b) Bitching about me not doing something when it's specifically part of your job to handle that type of problem? c)this event happened after I stopped being exec staff so my capacity to punish would be next to nill.

    Swear to fucking god.

So true. For all the folks still in school and not yet in the office, read this and take heed.
