Mariano Rivera injured (career likely over?)

I'm surprised nobody has posted about this yet.

He appears to have torn his ACL shagging balls during batting practice (a regular routine for him). If that's the case, I doubt we see him pitch again.

As an adamant Yankee Hater™, I still hate to see this happen to him. He's one of the few Yankees I have respect for (lifetime yankee as opposed to bought yankees).

Was the lone closer on one of my money league fantasy teams. Now I got to pull a hammy reaching for David Robertson and hope he's named the closer. !#$!@#$ me.

I was actually leaning towards Soriano.

If they go by the numbers, Robertson is clearly the superior pitcher. Of course, Soriano has closing experience and the big money contract that they gave him to be Mariano's backup, but that was before Robertson was pitching lights out last year and this year. Fantasy circles are leaning toward Robertson. Hopefully, there will be news Sunday before I have to put in my bid.

Robertson's numbers are also a little inflated. He tends to go in 7th and 8th innings and is put in more often when there are favorable match ups. In that sense, the numbers are going to lie a little bit. Who knows though.

hate that he goes out like this. I too am a yankee hater. I never could figure out why people swung at half the shit he threw. Of course being at the plate and watching on TV is a lot diffrent.

Soriano has been going in during the same situations, and his numbers are far worse. Not to mention Robertson's ridiculous strikeout rate.
