Not how to start your day.

This morning i go to grab a bit of cash out of my safe and the handles strips out. This is a damn $300 safe and i immediately think to myself "Dont tell me the made the handle connections out of plastic.". So i go about my day think man i dont want to have to break into this thing. I get home and grab my makita 4.5 inch cutter, throw a metal blade on it, and go to work.

My level of disappointment in this sentry safe comes to fruition after about 5 minutes. Thats how long it took me to cut the back off of this damn thing. Granted its not a bank vault but damn really. So in short plastic parts for the handle connections and apparently all i need to do is cut my time in half and i can go brake safes for a living. Time to upgrade to an 8 in makita i guess.

I sent sentry safes an email on this garbage. I'll be waiting to see what they have to say about my level of disappointment with their product.

On another note, DG doesn't have a safe for his cash right now, good time to.... Wait, its DG, its never a good idea to try anything!

Sounds like a crappy situation, but at least you could still get in...

After reading one of Feynman's books years ago, I gained a casual interest in locks and lock picking.

From what I read, it's gotten to be really hard to get a good safe or lock. Most of them seem to be manufactured to look secure, and little more.

These took me a minute to find. I'm sure there are better ones out there.

    Cheers,

    Yeah, really.

ITS Tactical posted this to their blog a few days ago. Locks only keep out the honest, or something like that.

Yeah. Most locks only prevent casual theft.

My brother had a 2001 Jeep Cherokee. Great car, but apparently the most worthless locks ever.

That car was stolen 3 times in DC for joyrides. Cops said a 14-year-old could do it in less than 5 seconds. The last time he didn't even bother to replace the locks, just used the keyless.

Also, welcome to the forums taprickd.

Well that padlock trick is pretty useless for a thief, a real theif would probably just use a bolt cuter and get break it off easy.

I have a brinks fire proof safe... It is empty. I have a small lock box in my office... Never more than a grand in it. I find that banks a better suited to safeguard my money. At least there it is federally insured.

Some self employed folks might require more cash on hand than me.
