Your computer is leaking...
Found some green water under one of the foots for my case. Opened up the case to find the screw to close of the CPU liquid cooling reservoir no longer screwed tight and coolent was leaking in my case.
Lucky, considering it's set right above my 4890, Creative Soundblaster, UV CRT Power box, and Networking card.
Done with Liquid, going back to the fans. But I don't one that will fit a LGA 775 laying around. So, I'm out of action til it get's here.Dispatch the DooM

Re: Your computer is leaking...
I am achieving greater speeds on air than my watercooling brethren. However.. it is probably a good bit quieter in the GPU department. Your circumstance is one of my motivators for remaining on air.
I am actually building a completely passive rig ... Not sure I want to spend the amount I need to to make a passive gaming rig though...

Re: Your computer is leaking...
Water cooled is simply quieter and looks nice. I put UV re-active water becasue I have a CRT in there to spice things up. Beyond that it doesn't really do much else. I also ran into the issue of the coolent drying out and turning in to little pebbles. It was like having sand in there. Not much, but a few spots started showing up in the tubes now and then.
I ordered a new fan this afternoon, newegg has had some epic shipping so I may have it by Wednesday. Then I'll have to take everything out to get the pins off the motherboard.
If you felt like doing a custom system. Like ran some tubes to another room, you would avoid the issue of leakage from the Radiator block and have an ultra quiet machine. You can cool GPU, CPU, and Power Supply (becasue water + electricity = Fun)
It had its run, it was kool, I'm just about out of coolent, and now it's time for something less flashy.Dispatch the DooM

It's really just a shmancy looking think thats all.
Units like this, Newegg.com - ZALMAN CNPS9500A-LED 92mm 2 Ball CPU Cooler
are great.
I have one on a i7 2600k and it just blows the AquaGate S1 away.Dispatch the DooM

Re: Your computer is leaking...
I am using a similar Zalman (no LED) and getting 4.8Ghz@1.35v without speed step on my i5-2500K (Sandy Bridge). Good cooler but requires cleaning a bit more frequently than other more traditional shapes; nice thing is it just fits under the 200m fan mounted in the side panel of my case. That CPU has yet to crack 65C under load. I love my air cooling system, and it is relatively quiet even when I crank it.

I picked up this one to hold me over, Newegg.com - Rosewill RCX-Z2 7 blades 80mm reverse ball bearing fan CPU Cooler
Its going on an Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600. Though, I can't find the file with temps under load. I'll have to start a new one.Dispatch the DooM

07-19-12, 12:05 AM #9Tighten your screws and fittings, use plumbers tape when you have a questionable link, and you will likely never leak.
I have only had a leak once due to my own stupidity. They happen, but can be avoided if you take the time to do things right. Results are almost always better than air, but cost is much greater. If you dont have the cash to drop on quality components, just get a good air cooler.

Re: Your computer is leaking...
Oh my Aquagate S1 lasted for about 3 or 4 years with not major issues other then the clumps of "solidified Coolent" [coolermaster].
And the last time I filled it, it seemed like the screw wasn't tightening all the great. But I hit a spot where it wasn't spinning any more and the instruction make note not to over screw the thing. The hole they drilled wasn't very clean and shows signs of oxidation.Dispatch the DooM
