Perhaps you should take a time machine back to when John Adams was POTUS. You'd like the first Sedition law, and I dare say the second one.
And if you're so concerned about flags, then perhaps you should protest all of the souvenir flags that are not made to proper standards. You could even go about enforcing the old code of either burning the flag if it touched the ground or slitting your wrists.
Times changes. Laws and the interpretations of said laws change. There is nothing wrong with being liberal just as there is nothing wrong with being conservative; however, being one strictly to a fault is idiotic. Pragmatism works best. The modern supreme court knows this; you can see, for example, by how they reference foreign judicial decisions that have sound judgement.enf-Jesus its been like 12 minutes and you're already worried about stats?! :-P

Re: People bash America, Religion, and the military on facebook.
Well that's a distinction I wasn't getting from all the "kick his ass" responders.
Not that I spend much time at all worrying about the Westboro folks, but truthfully I'm a little bit proud of my country that they exist and aren't being thrown in prison by agents of some Federal authority.
I'm also a little bit proud that their numbers don't seem to be growing very fast. Being offensive allows them to make a big noise with a few people, but most of us (even straight-up homophobes) find them and their tactics to be repulsive.
In terms of extreme, I think that the extremities are where the Bill of Rights matters. No one gives a shit about the casual, low-level, unobtrusive stuff. If it isn't affecting corporate profits or upsetting entrenched authority then no one cares and the protections are window dressing.
I think we've always been allowed to burn the flag. That's another thing that makes me proud of my country. I'm sure there are plenty of examples of citizens who have been arrested or beaten for flag burning, but they're within their rights to burn it and I think that making it illegal would be a catastrophe.
It's important that we're able to separate the idea from the physical symbol of the idea. No one flag is sacred, and if you feel like you have to burn one to get your point across then I say go for it. There will likely be social consequences. You might lose support for your position from people who agree with you but don't like your methods. You might energize your opposition. You will certainly piss off a lot of people, and if it turns out that you did it just for grins then everyone will know that you're the sort of person that doesn't deserve to be listened to. But you won't be arrested, and that gives me comfort.
Cheers,

I'm not a conservative.
I'm more of a static. I believe all things hold value on both sides of the fence. I am just not a supporter of the newer generations and their so called entitlements. The majority of people who feel this way are conservatives but they do have a right to be.
Consider me more of a traditionalist.

conservative - definition of conservative by the Free Online Dictionary, Thesaurus and Encyclopedia.
See the first two definitions. I should be clear that when I say conservative, I don't mean the modern "Republican" party. I consider those neo-cons for lack of a better term, that is to say false conservatives and false Republicans.
Entitlement is not something new to this generation. It's just more visible due to modern media.enf-Jesus its been like 12 minutes and you're already worried about stats?! :-P
