Re: LSU kicks star off team
But they love the BCS. They get a payout even if they don't go to a bowl. Also, they only need 6 wins to automatically be placed in a bowl. They also don't need to split a payout with a conference or anyone else. The BCS is good to Notre Dame.

Re: LSU kicks star off team
So an undefeated season with one of the toughest schedules EVER in college football is undeserving of being in the title game? If anyone didn't DESERVE it out of LSU/Bama, it was Bama. Lost to LSU once at HOME and didn't even have to play an extra game for the SEC title. LSU and Bama were the two best teams at the end of the year, but if you have to pick one who was more deserving, it was LSU. Their resume' last year was insane.
That being said, losing Mathieu isnt something LSU wanted, but it's not like we are going to lose 7 games now. Quarterback play will be MUCH improved and we still have arguably the top defense in the nation. 3 first rounders on our defensive line, and still a plethora of elite level defensive backs. Mathieu wasnt the best defensive back on the team last year and he wouldn't have been the best one this year. (see Tharold Simon)
LSU will certainly be in a BCS game this year and it wouldn't surprise me in the slightest to see them in the title game again. All this Mathieu leaving baloney is way overblown. LSU reloads every year at defensive back. We have the talent to endure this loss, easily.Last edited by rock_lobster; 08-19-12 at 01:15 AM.

Re: LSU kicks star off team
I have to agree. If Jeferson/Lee were still QB, it may be more of a problem as Mathieu was responsible for a lot of wins last season, but you don't see that in the score. He turned the tide of the West Virginia game, Oregon game, Arkansas game and the SEC title game against Georgia. While that would be nice to have, LSU now has a serviceable QB at the helm. Not saying Mettenberger (LSU QB) will be in heisman contention, an all American or even all-SEC, BUT if you look back at the times LSU has had QB's that weren't necessarily elite, but could manage the game....they won two national titles (Matt Mauck 2003 & Matt Flynn 2007). I think this year, the LSU offense will make up any ground lost by losing Mathieu.
That said, Bama lost a LOT of experience on that side of the ball. And with the complexity of Saban and Kirby Smart's defemse, that could hurt them severely. I only say this because out of the west, it's LSU or Bama goin to the SEC title game.

If every village kicked out all of their idiots, and those idiots got together to form a new village, this guy would be the idiot of that village.
