LOL thanks. Yeah took it to shop (I'm no mechanic beyond oil and fluids) and they didn't find anything... :/ so watching it day to day.

May want to replace your thermostat with a lower temp one. Might help ya out.

welp - radiator it is apparently. Started overheating again a few days later (I don't drive it too much). Took it back to the shop. They put an infrared thermometer on it and said that there should be a temp difference between the top of the radiator and the bottom of the radiator of around 30 degrees. However the difference is only about 7 degrees. Based on that, they believe the radiator has a blockage and are recommending replacement.

Sigh

$600 bucks later....that I would rather spend on other more fun things.

Get one of them Chinese aluminum ones. They're pretty good! Also you can do it yourself in a few hours, saves a lot of $

In 28 years of working on cars this is the first time i've heard this one. Your not going to see a big difference from top to bottom on a radiator. Especially if the vehicle is sitting still. The cooling system works by pressure and movement. Thats not to say there isn't a blockage but your not going to be able to tell with an infrared anything.

You dont have to be very mechanically inclined to replace a rad if you wish to save a few bucks. Its only a couple bolts and hoses.

A buddy and I replaced the radiator in my truck in under 20 minutes. Of course we have both done radiators before. The longest thing was draining the system. A few bolts on the shroud and two hose clamps,pulled the old one out dropped new one in and filled it up.

Now if it's like my blazer, I can believe the clogged up part, unless you filter the water you put in it... water would barely flow through it when we tried to flush it. Lots of minerals in the water. It was more trouble to change because of oil and transmission coolers built into it... One of which still leaks. Took about an hour and a half by myself.

Did you try putting teflon tape on the leaking cooler line?
