... family has car issues.
I guess this time my nephew blew the head gaskets in his car. So him and my father decide they are going to fix it an hour from me with the thought of just having me come and do the work. Well im fucking busy. I dont have time to drive down there and fix the car. I told them put it on a wrecker and send it here and i'll fix it when i have free time.
2 days go by and i start getting text messages and phone calls from both of them saying they need me to go help fix it. Once again i tell them im busy put it on a wrecker. They respond with it cant go on a wrecker. So i tell them i've seen cars burned to the ground rolled with no tires go on the back of wreckers. So what could possibly be wrong with that car that it cant go on a wrecker?
Turns out they didnt want to spend the money to send it but it was ok for me to spend 60 bucks in gas to go fix something neither of them should have even attempted. So they finally send the car here and its been sitting for about 4 days while its been raining and my fucking phone is blowing up over this pos.
WTF is wrong with people? You have a $1200 dollar repair i am doing for fucking free because your family and your blowing my fucking phone up a dozen times a day because not having a car is an inconvenience to you? Like somehow me spending a day and a half fixing this turd isnt an inconvenience to me.
God damn i hate family.

Agreed! It is amazing how family or friends will assume you want to drop $$$ on fuel, time on repair and buy you a hotdog in return. Piss faces.
My family and friends all know that I'll help them, but reciprocation is important.

Dealing with family is always tough. It is challenging to turn them away even if they are taking advantage of you. I typically just do it, and then move on, especially if they dont have the means to do things themselves.

LOL. I would just let it sit for even longer and ignore the calls. Sooner or later they will get the idea that you are busy and they should have just ponied up the money and get it fixed at a shop, or at least pay you for the time you spend on the work. That's why I don't fix friends and families' computers anymore. I just tell them, a. I don't know, b. I don't have time, and c. go buy a new pc.

Re: ... family has car issues.
Actually thats what i've done. Its been outside and the only thing i've done to it so far is take the intake and fuel rail off. I am to busy. What little bit of time i do have to myself i've been relaxing. In fact i think im going to stop repairing peoples vehicles all together. I was being nice charging less then half a shop would and people are just getting to be a big pain in my ass thinking i have to stop what im doing to fix their car. Fuckem they can pay full price at a shop until they learn some damn manners.

Or just tell your friends, you pay the shop extra to fix your car fast. Il get to it when I can but now that I have your car im blocking your number. Dont call me and bug me about anything, I dont care if you have a hot date on Wednesday, you knew you didnt have a car and shouldn't have made plans.
