What part of town do you want to venture out to?
The original Sonny Bryans down on inwood is good as well as Mike Andersons right around the corner from there. If you go to Mike Andersons make sure you try the Monster potatoe or Spudzilla, I work right across the street from there and it is a every monday event now.

Rudy's is meh. It's alright but I've def had better. I heard Sonny Bryans is off the chain.
I personally like to do my own BBQ. I make my own rub and have my own recipes. I will say with confidence that nobody can touch my ribs and brisket. After I'm done smoking them, it literally melts in your mouth.

A claim laid forth by every back yard cook since the dawn of time including me, =)
I like Rudy's spicy chop just fine but it's the taco bell of BBQ. I go to a place in Irving off of Irving blvd and nursery called fred's. I haven't eaten there in about a year but their meat potato was both plentiful and delicious.
