Thanks again all for all of the kind words. They help quite a bit.

And for those who have never planned a funeral........holy crap.

For ~$200, you can watch your loved one be cremated. Yep......watch. I asked if I could watch someone else instead, and apparently that would be distasteful.....so there is a line somewhere. WTFBBQ......literally.

And this is why I will always live up here in God's Country:
For ~$200 you can have a guy show up with 4 white doves (pigeons). I wanted to time the release with the 21-gun salute. Then the guy warns us that they have had some problems with the "doves" at the cemetery we are using. It is right along the Mississippi River, and borders a National Wildlife area. On a few occasions, the local eagles and hawks have looked at this graveside moment as a lunch buffet......I wanted to then rent a hawk to be released as well.

Why can't we have Viking or Indian(feather) funerals.
