Thread: The BEST team in the NFL today

Who do you guys think is the top of the league today? I thought the niners looked amazing early on this year and the entire last half of the season last year, but our quarterback play makes me a bit nervous. Lately Smith chokes when the pressure is on... even thought he performed so well under it in the past (NFC Divisional Round vs the Saints anyone?)

Right now the top team in each division, for me, has to go to the NY Giants for the NFC and the Patriots for the AFC. The Texans and Ravens both looked great until their recent injuries. Now I'm not so sure they have what it takes to go deep in the post-season.

The Patriots are SCARY good looking this year. Did you see their running game in the Broncos-Patriots matchup? Tom Brady with that many weapons is just amazing.

The Giants, on the other hand, I'm torn on. I don't think they are all that great of a team overall. But Eli Manning has been clutch! He seems to be able to overcome any deficit in the 4th quarter and their defense is one of the better units out there today. I think they will be the team to beat on the road to the Superbowl this year.

Using the Broncos is a bad example we've never been really that good with run defense. Not to mention we don't have our best run defender, DJ Williams, till mid next month. It's hurting our defense. That added to the fact that Manning was sucking that game and couldn't keep the defense off the field long enough to rest.

I think the Giants have a great year a head of them. Unless the Eagles finally bench Vic and get their offense doing better(Defense now is questionable with a new coordinator).

Falcons are still undefeated, so I'd watch out for them too.

I think in the AFC it is the Texans. Their defense is salty, and they have a great core of skill players.

In the NFC not sure what I think about Atlanta. I want to believe in them, but they always collapse in the playoffs. I like San Fran and Green Bay, even though their defense SUCKS. And the Giants are the Giants. They will probably go 9-7, barely make the playoffs, then make a run.

The Falcons are undefeated but they look like garbage when I've watched them. I'm convinced they would get stomped if they played any of the top NFC teams.

I'd choose the Texans too if it weren't for their injury prone nature. Last year it seemed every game they had ~5-10 starters out with injuries. Losing Cushing is a pretty big hit to them too.
