In that case, it's shift on the fly.

Never heard of a truck that didn't have "2 hi"...

He was asking if it was 2x4 or 4x4 that's it. All trucks have "2 HI", some 4x4's have 2 LOW depending on your power train configuration.

    Re: Bought a new Truck

So I still haven't gotten new tires yet, but now I have to. I was feeling some major vibrations in the steering wheel and center console. I was thinking there was a problem somewhere besides the tires+alignment but I learned that I have a "bubble" or raised area on my right front tire at least.

So, now I'm back to choosing a tire and size. I'm still not certain I should continue with the 285/70R17's. My last tires obviously only lasted less than 40k (who knows when the previous owner got them). My brother was telling me he likes his Michelin A/T tires, 80k miles both sets he's had. I also asked him about ride, he said since the D rated are less ply's, they are softer so they ride better. I'm not going to be doing a lot of pulling and I will be doing mostly highway driving. So I'm considering going D rated Michelin A/T tires, just not sure on the size....

    Re: Bought a new Truck

D rating has nothing to do with the softness or hardness of the tire. D means it has more sidewall belt to stiffen the sides up for additional weight or in some cases just because they are needed for the mere size of the tire. I run d's on my f150 because of the weight i carry and or the trailer im towing. 285 is a decent size tire but not needed on that vehicle for anything other then the look. If longevity is what your looking for then you want a harder tire which the factory size with a d rating will already be. Mine are 2457616's and they've been on the truck for about 5 years now and i know i drive more then most. I have to replace them now because i got lazy and let the front end go into disrepair. That of course chews up tires quickly.

I forgot to mention you'll want it to say at or lt by the tire size. P or ht are your softer compound tires.
