True who knows what would have happened but the stats don't lie they had the talent and the staff. They did succeed in telling the NCAA (who I'm not all to happy with over that decision and the decisions they made on the whole Penn State affair) to fuck off lol which I like :P.

As a Stanford fan, yes I do actually hate Notre Dame. They are not as good as there record, they refuse to join a conference and are ranked even when there team is shit, like the 3 years preceeding this one. This is not because Stanford was robbed, after all I was grinning in Stanford Stadium at the game where Toby Gearhart ran so hard through the ND D-line that he cost Charlie Weis his job.

Could talk with some of the MIT statistics grads and get them to pop out a college football version of the RPI. Less games I'd imagine would create an issue, but it seems like RPI works pretty well for schedule strength and all that jazz.
Plus, with the way scheduling is working now, if you are half-decent you have a 1% chance that any good team (let alone ranked) will come play you/invite you to come play them. You might get someone who wants to bolster their SOS a bit, but it seems fairly rare.
I did love the Michigan scheduling by Bama by the way. It was like, "We want to play a decent-good team, but someone who won't have a chance at beating us...Hey Michigan has a QB that is terribad at passing, and they're ranked! Perfect!!"

Saying the SEC is overrated is like saying chuck Norris is not a bad ass.

Good by what standards? Who did UGA, UF, Bama, South Carolina, or A&M play out of conference that wasn't a scrub to prove that they are indeed a good team? Also, looking at rankings over the last few years the SEC has been top heavy, VERY top heavy, but just as weak or weaker in the middle and bottom. So that means SEC teams that scheduled a bunch of weak sister schools only played 1-2 tough games all year too.
And for the record, I am not just poo pooing on the SEC. Every conference and school does the same thing, and it sucks.

No, I am just tired of everybody in this topic polishing the nuts of the SEC with their saliva, and acting like the SEC is a third conference in the NFL or something. There is ZERO benefit for a school from an AQ conference to play a good team in a non-conference game. None. If you are in the Big 10, Big 12, SEC, ACC, or Pac 12 and go undefeated you will, in almost every year, be in the title game. So, if you are school X, and you schedule a top 10 team from conference Y the only thing it can do is hurt you if you lose. Which sucks. I loved when UT scheduled a home and home with Ohio State. I would love for Bama to schedule a home and home with USC, Oregon, Michigan, Nebraska, Texas, Ohio State, or any other power team from another AQ conference, but I understand why it rarely happens.

I don't disagree. My point is everyone is praising Bama for playing New England, Oakland, and the Bears, and accusing ND of playing Plano East High School. Let's look at some facts. Last year Alabama played 4 teams ranked in the top 25 not counting the national title game. Those teams were #23 Penn State, #14 Arkansas, #12 Florida, and #1 LSU. They also played #3 Georgia Southern, oh wait, they are an FCS school, my bad. This year ND has played, wait for it, 4 teams in the top 25 not counting the upcoming national title game. Those teams were #18 Michigan, #17 Stanford, #10 Michigan State, and #8 Oklahoma. (23+14+12+1)/4=12.5 average rank for ranked teams, (18+17+10+8)/4=13.25 average rank for ranked teams
So, in conclusion, if ND played a shit schedule this year then what type of schedule did Bama play last year when they were supposedly more deserving than 2 other schools with 1 loss?
