The big problem is players are bigger and stronger and the equipment is better than it used to be so these guys run around like they're invincible. Take away some of that safety equipment instead of making it better and you might see a drop in serious hits rather than an increase.

Which is what I was trying to say earlier. When you look at a sport like rugby, there is less serious injuries (I'd have to verify that, but what I've heard) then in the NFL. And it isn't like Rugby players are skinny dudes. Well they also make hits above a certain point (it may be the neck, I don't remember now) illegal, which also helps for safety.

A two hour, usually interesting game with limited commercial breaks. Or you can watch a 4 hour game, where half the time 3/4th of it isn't important, with 2 minutes of commercial for about every two minutes of play.
I'm going to watch the first every time, and leave the second on to watch when anything good happens.

Re: NFL Considers Eliminating Kickoffs
Maybe it's just me, but it seems like 9/10 of those games is literally kicking the ball to teammates. And not even passes to set up scores, like you see in basketball, but passes all the way back into the damned backfield. How is that interesting?
The NFL has its downsides, but I still think it's the best sport we have.

Re: NFL Considers Eliminating Kickoffs
If they incorporated icing somehow in soccer I would watch it. As it stands right now though, when they get close to the goal, the other team just boots it 3/4 of the way down the field. Rinse and repeat for 90+ minutes. Such a tease. They should have to work it out of there just as the opponent worked it in.
