Yeah i just dont see the point in spending 60 grand for a truck when i can buy one thats 3 or 4 years old for 30. After all it is going to be a work truck and carpet glue and epoxy doesnt come out of the seats. No matter how hard you try inevitably your going to get it on them somehow.

Screw credit go craiglist. I got my 92 nissan 300zx with only 70k miles on it for 4k. Blue book was almost 7k for the car. Its run like a dream no issues and is in great condition considering it age. I've bought most my cars through the list as well other odds and ends. Always find great deals that save you tons of money.

This simply hasn't been my experience at all. The only new car I ever bought was an Acura CL, and it depreciated so fast it made me sick. I could have saved $10-12k getting one that was 2 years old with 20-30k miles.
I bought my 08 Tundra double cab for $20k. The new Tundra with the same features was $32k. I was not trying to show off, nor did I need to brag about how much I paid for my truck. I needed a truck with 4 doors so I could use it like a car, had a big bed, and was able to tow. Of course, I chose to save the $12k.
And I shopped around for about 4 weeks before settling on this truck. The dealers had too many used trucks and this one was on the lot for 90 days, so they were able to take my lowball offer of $20k (listed at $23,999) while also fixing a small ding on the driver side. You couldn't touch a Tundra with 20k miles for $20k in the private seller market.
I have not had a single issue with this truck in the almost 3 years I have owned it.

Re: Where do you all look for a used vehicle?
Yeah im thinking its going to have to be an actual dealer or gibsons truck world up the street. Not to bad im finding 06's for 17k with a year warranty on everything. As much as i dislike diesels i think i might go with one. Im also planning on renting a cabin and taking a trip to the poconos next christmas so i guess 4x4 is on the table. I always stuck with 2 wheel because i didnt need 4x4 but if everything goes as planned i'll be purchasing some mountain property next year. I dont hunt or anything but i do still like to get away from everyone.
