Re: waiting
In my neighborhood fedex always seems to come late in the afternoon. Sit around all day on my day off waiting for something to arrive and it always takes fooooreeevvverrr. UPS almost always comes around noon-2ish.
USPS isn't that great either. Most of the time when I am tracking USPS items they are right on. But, here recently, I have seen the tracking say, out for delivery, then later in the day it will say delivery confirmed. Then the next day after Im good and pissed and wondering where the hell my order is, it will be sitting in the mail box.

Re: waiting
USPS has gotten worse over the years, I remember as a kid the mail used to be there every morning at 8-9am, Now were lucky if we get it by 2pm. UPS is always early in the morning for me so i never have a problem, and ive never got anything through Fedex so i cant vouch for that.

Re: waiting
USPS is a sad, poor excuse of a joke about the shadow of its former self.
Had some items shipped from an online retailer (Lego Store) via UPS for Christmas gifts. I receive standard notification that packages would be delivered on the Dec. 14th. Cool.
Dec. 14th roles around and I've not received anything, no biggie I say, I go to the UPS site to track the packages and I notice a new tracking # (might have been there to begin with, but I didn't see it) and it's a USPS tracking number. Hrmmm.
So I hit their tracking page. Says out for delivery. Ok. I hang at the office until a little after close of business. Nada. So slightly aggravated I head home for the weekend.
Monday arrives and I track the USPS delivery again and lo and behold it lists it as delivered Saturday. To my office. Which was closed Saturday and Sunday. Which has a policy restriction on the bldg mgmt staff prohibiting them from accepting any delivery.
So I am now scrambling to find this package which was supposedly delivered. Nada Mon/Tues. Open a USPS "Investigation" on a missing package (2). They request 24 hours to investigate. They wind up taking 48 to get back to me. The packages then show up. I call the "investigator" back and she proceeds to tell me that the reason the packages were marked as Delivered on Saturday was that the driver attempted to deliver, the office was closed and he knew that he'd be back by the same route later in week. :/ When I explain to her that this is not a good business practice (that of claiming something is delivered when it's not - and subsequently causing worry and financial concern due to this) I get the "crickets" sound on the other end of the phone....useless.
And they wondering why it is that they are further and further in the red and falling into the red so fast it makes Doppler jealous.......
Stupidity and failure to adapt. Screw the USPS. I avoid them like the plague if at all possible. Only routinely useful thing they provide is junk mail that I can use for wrapping/packing or paint splatter guards.

Usually FedEx has been the one that delivers whenever the hell they want, with UPS waiting until late in the day to do their deliveries here. Also never had an issue with USPS so far, they usually come around 2-3pm and either stuff it in the box or leave it at the door but that is about it. I quite liked Fed Ex though, mostly as they have stores close I can set up to pick it up there, and last time they even called to let me know it was at the main facility and I could pick it up there that day, or wait for it to be sent out to the store the next day and pick it up then.
