Cards draft seems pretty solid so far. Guard at 8 still seems weird but also think it is a good pick. They didn't reach and should be fairly safe pick. Like what I read about Minter, should be able to fill in for Washington early. Mathieu could be a steal, though I'm very worried he'll bust out of the league due to off-the-field issues, has the talent to be very good though if he avoids trouble. The only pick kind of eh on is Watford. It wasn't a terrible pick or anything, just seems like there is better talent on the board still, I liked the write-ups on Garrett Gilkey more, though he has some short arms. Also Josh Evans was there, who again sounds pretty damn good with potential and fills a big need.

Still, most the RBs and Safeties made it to the 5th round, so could end up not being that bad of a pick in the end. Anyways, overall it seems solid and can't complain too much at the moment.

Very not thrilled with Arizona's drafting of Mathieu. People say he's a gamebreaking talent, yet he only had 4 interceptions in 2 years. Most of his turnovers came from forced fumbles in run support, and if he tried to do that in the NFL he's the perfect size for a police chalk outline on the ground. I think with his size and skillset, the only thing he's really qualified to do in the NFL is to be a returner.

As for his off-the-field issues....that's a gigantic risk for Arizona. This is a guy quoted in an interview as having said he stopped counting his number of failed drug tests at 10. this is a guy who was kicked off his team because of failed drug tests, then went to rehab, and THEN got arrested for drug possession. This is a guy that even after all that, advertised for an afterparty at a club, when the dumbest person in the world would've known that teams were already watching him warily. That's just way too many risks for me. I don't even know if I'd have taken him in the 6th or 7th rounds, let alone the 3rd, just because of the media circus and distractions he's going to be, not to mention the constant risk of suspensions.

Just be happy you got Swope. I would even say he's better than Wes Welker.

The full Cardinal draft is pretty solid. As said, like the sound of Cooper even if it is a bit early, but shouldn't bust at least (and help out with the guards being awful). Ellington and Stepfan Taylor seems a good combination at a good value. Ellington sounded like a slightly better Stevens-Howling and Stepfan Taylor a potential feature back though one report makes his decision making sound a bit spotty.

Swope is another risky but potentially good pick, much less risky then Mathieu but still injuries are a worry. Otherwise would be a great steal. Jefferson, meh. Have to look what value there was there otherwise, but not going to spend much time caring about 7th round picks (sorry).

Anyone thoughts on teams drafts? Winner, losers? (I know you "can't decide on a draft til 3-5 years," stuff, but its fun so meh).

Re: NFL Draft talk (2013 edition)

I'm extremely happy with the Steelers draft. The past few years they've been getting questionable character guys and it bit them in the ass real hard last season/this off season. This year they hit on needs with 7/9 picks and picked quite a few very skilled players. I would have preferred a later round QB and to use that pick for more immediate needs, but all in all pretty happy.

Only other pick that I'm really just meh about is Bell. I think he'll be good, but Arthur Brown would have been better in that spot imo...much easier to find productive RB's late than it ILB's.

I hope Manti Teo didn't get a phone call telling him he was drafted!
