    Enf was a Tri-Lam.

    "Booger" was his handle.

    Sig Ep swaggin'.

Just kidding. I'm still in high school, but I know the fraternity I want to join since I'm not smart enough to entertain the thought of Phi Theta Kappa. (Yet my advisors won't shut the hell up about it.)

    Re: Phi Theta Kappa?

Sorry I didn't see this thread sooner. I will give you the low down on these organizations. They are typically started by college students as a way to "get involved". They collect your fee and use it to fund scholarships etc. (they usually have insane applications to even qualify) They will hold fund raisers and public service activities in the guess of "getting involved" or "leadership opportunities". This translates to free labor in the guise of a club. That is not necessarily a bad thing. I joined Phi Eta Sigma honor society in my undergrad (didn't plan on doing grad school at that time) which is a 4 years GPA based honor society. They did lots of charity events and such and was worth it from the networking standpoint to meet others at the school. It helped in identifying others in your classes that had similar high GPA's to form study groups and such. You can clearly do this same stuff without paying a fee to an honor's club.

Since you indicated that you are planning on attending graduate school for your masters you are much better holding off and joining an international honors society focused on your field. I joined Beta Gamma Sigma international honor society. Yes I have an emblem on my resume. Why? they are an international society only open to business graduate students with a high GPA (top 10% of class I believe it was). I have met others that are members...these members graduated grad schools and are now hiring mangers and higher at large firms. Its a networking thing. The biggest thing I got out of BGS though is my business magazine subscriptions at around 80% off because I have corporate business pricing through BGS. I saved more than the cost of joining BGS in my Fortune and Bloomberg business weekly 2 year subscription. On top of that BGS members get 50% Men's warehouse on suits and such. http://www.betagammasigma.org/benefits.htm

So, the big question is are they worth it. That depends on if they offer benefits that you can use. The one you posted doesn't match your major and unless you are stopping at a 2 year degree will be trumped by an honor society at the 4 year of graduate level. Hope that helps.
