Re: Whats your day job
I feel ya s3gulit, I too have grown up on the farm, and still work with my dad quite often when he needs help, but my day job is with a local oil well servicing company, where I do whatever they tell me to do. Some days I run parts to rigs, or get sent as an extra roughneck, or I work as a swamper for the trucking department, or I work as a mechanics assistant on the yard. Then on the weekends I will referee at a paintball field.

Re: Whats your day job
Unless you are a doctor or lawyer type, I would say you can expect to make anywhere from 30k to 60k a year out of college.
The doctor types have it even worse -- 4 more years of school (costing 20-50k/yr) and then 3-7 years of residency training, where you're working 80 hours a week and making about $10/hr. After that you can start making some money (and get going on paying off the college and med school debt).
I just got my first real job -- I'm a flight physician at a children's hospital here in Houston. We do long-range critical care transport. It's been fun so far.
