Khan and Pacquiao are the last two major "fixes" I can think of off the top of my head. Khan wont fight in the USA anymore after that fight.

Pac said the same thing but cited taxes as the reason he wouldn't fight in the US any more.

As it is, he and Marquez were supposed to have Pacquiao/Marquez 5 in november in Vegas... Now it's up in the air I think.

I think boxing in the US has been hurt by the fact that there really haven't been a lot of notable American champions as well.

That is very true as well. We have 1 champion in the last 10 years, Mayweather, but no one likes him. Gone are the days of Tyson, Holyfield and De la Hoya.

I don't particularly LIKE Mayweather but I love to watch him fight. I don't think anyone out there is fast enough to take him. He slips punches like nobody I've ever seen and I think his speed has dipped a bit in recent years but he's still faster than 95% of everyone else out there. I think he'd pick Pacman apart and it would be a decision win... like... 116 112... because Mayweather likes to take a break some rounds...

All you have to do is look at the last couple of Boxing results at the Olympics to know why. The US hasn't even been competitive. I suspect that's more the effect of UFC than anything. People aren't wanting to be boxers... but want to get more into UFC instead.

That is very true, but it makes no sense to me. In earnings wise, UFC fighters make table scraps compared to boxers. Undercards for a UFC pay per view make less than 60k for the fight, where as a boxer fighting on a undercard on a pay per view event is making at least 100k for his fight. There still is more money to be made in boxing than the UFC. Unless you are an mma fighter in japan in which case you shit loads of money.

But i think why the UFC is winning in the "battle" is that they provide a product that is uptempo where action is pretty being forced to happen at all times. Where as boxing can be a slow affair and very seldom do you see action for prolonged periods of time. Mostly a flurry of of 3-5 punches, then walking around the ring for another 20 seconds or so before you the next segment of action occurs.

I don't bet on fights so I really don't care about who or how they win. I just enjoy watching two professionals going at each other with all they have and that's what happened in the match of this topic. I believe the Donaire/Rigondeaux will be a war as well or the lame feeling out for 11 rds. For the record I'm going with the dark horse in this one
