I wouldn't doubt he ends up suing the school. He was already suspended for 3 days for the same tape and now he is fired. I don't know about the state laws there but here you can't be punished twice for the same issue.

Regardless the guy was a POS

I am confused by your post. I do agree that you can't be tried and convicted of the same crime twice (double jeopardy). That however has nothing to do with disciplinary actions on the job site. In AL you can be fired for having on the wrong colored tie so long as it is not motivated by race, religion or age.

Honestly I dont think this is that big of a deal. Saw most of the video and it appears he had like maybe one incident per practice or maybe even at a less frequent interval. Unfortunately we live in a society today where anyone and everyone gets offended for the tiniest things. Im actually surprised some player hasnt tried suing the school for a football coach slapping him in the head for a good play or something like that. OH and hate to say it, they are basketball players so they are naturally born pussies.

Also saw that the RU AD resigned today as well with the re release of the video. Seriously he punished the coach once, then twice. He did his job no need to resign because of this.

Re: Why has no one posted the Rutgers video?

The AD would have been fired if he didn't resign. The AD exercised poor judgement in what he said and what he did. Perhaps the most damning thing he said,

This was the coach's first offense and has been "punished/sanctioned ... whatever" for it.

Assuming that this was only a "first" offense, the Rutgers AD's statement implies that there could be a second offense. Administrators must act in the best interest of the student and then the institution. How would you feel to be the parents of the child that is subject to the second offense? How could the administration/institution defend themselves if there were a second offense? How could an institution believe it is acceptable to give this kind of behavior a pass even for a "first" time?

It is unfortunate that an ass of a coach ended the career of the AD at Rutgers. The AD avoided the humiliation of being fired. He did the right thing for his future and that of Rutgers and the students.

As for the stupidity in saying this was his first offense ... clearly the video evidence shows a record of abuse. This was not an isolated event (not that an isolated event could be tolerated).

When it comes to the physical and emotional abuse of a student, an institution must act in the best interest of all students and protect them from any further harm. There should not be a first time and there can never be a second time!

God grant that I may not be found wanting, that I will not fail this sacred trust.
