    Re: Music Fundamentals are forgotten..

I played at a Memorial Day festival this evening at a local AmVets Post. The place was packed, and it got a little rowdy when I elected not to play Free Bird. I'm sorry, but we are a 3 piece, and I have to play all guitar, sing, break out the slide, and play that exhausting lead. I chose long ago that I did not want to play that song. I felt bad because lots of the guys were bikers and the request was for one of their "fallen brothers".

To put their minds at ease, we played Call Me the Breeze and Saturday Night Special instead. Oh, and we got about a dozen requests for CCR, and we had to play Born to be Wild two times. Our 90s rock songs in the sets did NOT go over very well with the exception of a few.

I really hate playing biker bars, but it was Memorial Day, and we did the gig as a favor to a club owner that usually pays us pretty well. We have a new Manager that should be getting us gigs more suited for an audience that actually wants to hear the style of music the band truly wants to play.

Oh, and my 2 x 10" modified Deluxe Reverb kicked some ass.
