05-30-13, 03:10 AM #1Battlestar Galactica!
Well I just finished watching the whole newer series (2004-2009) on Netflix and I have some mixed emotions about it...Feel free to share your thoughts/interpretations if you have any regarding the ending or just the show in general.
***SPOILERS BELOW***
I definitely heard some people say they hated the ending...and while I concur that there were some things I didn't like about it, it wasn't all that bad in my opinion. My number one desire of the ending would be that chief would kill that wench of a cylon that killed his wife and WOWee, he didn't disappoint. I was pondering the significance of it though. It all seemed very pointless that Callie died and then that was the end of it, but in the end; the humans were about to make peace with the cylons and give them resurrection. Chief strangling the other cylon caused the fight that led to their jump to earth (the second earth).
I do have a question though. At the very end when it showed Gias and the Six 150,000 years in the future talking and she said "It was all a part of God's plan" and he said "He doesn't like being called that", were they insinuating that they were actually God? The way she was talking, it made it sound that if enough cycles passed, something would happen...though in the previous scene where it flashed back to Gias agrees to give Caprica the defense codes, he said "The things I do for love" or something to that affect. It would seem that there was an incredible amount of intervention on their behalf.
Now, onto Starbuck. Her husband and the other hybrid both called her the harbinger of death. I took it as the death of the cycle...though that is a very vague guess at best. There was a lot of ambiguity to the ending and some of the facts. They briefly mentioned Daniel, the cylon that was created to have incredible artistic abilities, and I wondered if the piano player had some allusion to that part of the mythology; since that wasn't the real starbuck anyways. IDK, I think I need to think about it some more.
Anywho, great show; two thumbs up. I loathed most characters at one point or another. Athena stopped whining, the assistant is dead, Starbuck isn't making dumb decisions; sounds like a great ending to me I know there were a couple spin-offs. Caprica and Blood and Chrome are online, anybody seen any of those? Are they worth watching?
P.S. Lucy Lawless was quite the fox for being one of the older gals on the show

Spoilers below!
I watched a couple episodes of Caprica and it never got rolling for me. I liked the mitochondrial eve ending. Glad you enjoyed the series!
My favorite moments:
raptor crash on kobol, when it drops out of the sky, I always grip my seat because I feel it too.
galactica freefalling into new caprica, launching vipers, jumping away just feet from the ground \m/ fuck yea
Finding Starbuck's body, leoben the ever-sure prophet is just freaked the hell out

I am one of those that absolutely hated the ending. It actually was supposed to be much different, but a writers strike hit and gave the big cheeseheads time to rethink it. The Battlestar Galactica Finale You Didn't See

Lol I was afraid they would either end it like mass effect where there was the new DNA that cylons and humans would come from, or like the matrix where they would make peace with the cylons instead of defeating them...
As a matter of fact, they did both, though this ended way before mass effect 3 came out.

Re: Battlestar Galactica!
favorite part of the whole show was: "all this has happened before and will happen again" and how tight the whole story was. All the little things that happened that maybe right away did not make sense, played huge roles later on, even whole seasons later.
