06-05-13, 11:55 AM #1Summer Transfers 2013
Because there can never be enough football (soccer) talk, and besides transfers are exciting (then disappointing but still).
Starting with non-transfer news, new hires/fires:
Jose Mourinho is back at Chelsea (shocker)
Roberto Martinez replaces Moyes at Everton
Pellegrini will likely be the new Manchester City manager (or is, depending who you ask)
Stoke hired Mark Hughes
Laurent Blanc could become Roma manager (Link--ESPNFC)
Gennaro Gattuso is rumored to become Palermo manager (Link--ESPNFC)
Transfers:
Navas to City for £17m (link--Guardian)
Fernandinho to City for £30m (link--Guardian)
Neymar to Barcelona
Maarten Stelekenburg to Fulham (link--Eurosport)
There is probably more but don't feel like trolling google all morning (and rumors are a pain in the ass since they are either possibly true or bullshit and hard to tell which).
Interested to see how the manager changes will work out, Everton could be interesting if they manage the unlikely and keep most of their talents. Love to see Baines in Martinez system.

Definitely interesting to see how the EPL will pay out with the manager changes. Moyes is a different type of manager than fergie, but due to united's understructure they've built, I doubt much will change for them, at least to start. He might try to rework their striker/forward setup but I think he will ease into the changes.
Who knows how city will change though, they are as tumultuous as ocean waves lol

Not transfer news but didn't want to create another soccer thread and start driving everyone nuts =p. But just found out Arizona finally has a professional soccer team! Apparently just started this year and now I really want to go to some games (its like $10 for endline seats). Even though the U.S. leagues have to be summer so the weather is going to be shit, about 100 if lucky by the time the games start.

Phoenix City FC Wolves. Sun Devils Stadium. Give it a couple years and we'll be on top
Looks like United picked up Zaha and Varela. I don't know much of either players but they seem like they could be good fits for the team. Looks like they'll be sticking to a strong English presence on the team with Zaha. Varela seems like a solid speedy-gonzales in the same vein as Rafael/Fabio. With Fabio gone, he may be a good replacement (no idea what position he'll play, haven't read up on him).
No doubt the first in a long summer of changes for Utd.

I had heard Varela as a rightback on another forum but again also haven't looked much into him (being I don't like Manchester United). Still works, as they didn't really have a rightback outside of Rafael right?
Manager news
Blanc says he refused an offer from Roma (ESPN FC)
Celta Vigo has hired Luis Enrique (ESPN FC)
Levante hired Joaquin Caparros (ESPN FC)
Marcelo Bielsa leaving Athletic Bilbao (ESPN FC)
Transfers
Wayne Bridge signs for Reading (BBC)
Swansea sign Jose Canas (Daily Mail)
Aston Villa sign Aleksandar Tonev (Guardian)
I might go through some rumors later, just as they are fun though majority bullshit =p.
