Medieval Sport, Anyone?
Used to be in that SCA (Medieval Life/Figinting) so such things are near and dear to me to this day. Have been a sports fan of (mostly) Football and Hockey. This one combines them all,

Non-edged steel weapons, full force, kicks, shoves and mostly anything goes. Whatever it takes to get your opponent to touch 3 of 4 limbs to ground. USA has been in it two years now, and getting better. The Russians, who started it to begin with, are still champions of the game.Last edited by dreaddman; 06-06-13 at 10:41 AM.

Re: Medieval Sport, Anyone?
There are a few who use swords, but one of the (few) safety rules is no thrusting with pointy parts. Original translation of the russian rules was hilarious; "No pricks with swords". LOL.
Because of this, most of the "sword-like" weapons are falchions or choppers. They are bit shorter, deeper/heavier, and sweap out to a sharper point 3/4-4/5 the way to the tip. Concentrates the force more to a point.
Edited to add: If you mean the last footage, thats 1x1 and has a different ruleset. Its a point system based on number of landed blows. More of a melee 5x5 or 21x21 fan myself.Last edited by dreaddman; 06-06-13 at 01:53 PM.
