Stupid people in this stupid economy, jobs and school
I'm so annoyed with people in this economy, and college education crap.
There are so many jobs available, yet people do not apply or want to work.
We have other people who refuse to work, who now influence others not to work by saying how they deserve more.
Then we have college, spend $100,000 to make some money or not be able to get a job.
I have a buddy who went to Texas A&M, graduated with a degree to be a fireman. He was a fireman for two years. Well shit happened and he got injured, and now he can't be a fireman. Best part, he can't get a job anywhere. He is "over qualified".
I have been trying to hire people since April. And every applicant is either a con artist, a bum, or spoiled rich brats.
I understand people love milking and cheating our legal system for all the money that can get but seriously. This has to stop.

Re: Stupid people in this stupid economy, jobs and school
So your annoyed that there are so many jobs available and that those leaving college cant find one? The job market hasn't come back that far yet and most of the jobs that are available are low wage jobs. Those wont pay your college loans much less afford you to buy a home or survive.
I literally just finished reading yet another article on why the middle class isn't doing well. 58% of the jobs that have been created since this shit happened are by places like mcdonalds. It was a pretty good article. I almost posted it on the forums but figured why bother.

Re: Stupid people in this stupid economy, jobs and school
Well that's one part. I feel bad for those guys.
But I am more mad at people who do not have the degree, but feel they are entitled to a 6 figure job already.
Plus the way I see it, you people who refuse to work decent paying jobs, ie 20-30k jobs without a degree do not need more.
I live off that. I spend way more than most people I know who do have to head of house hold also.

Oh and DGMC, you are older than me, so I'll let you know this, kids (18-20) are not like how they were back in the day or when I was their age. They are spoiled brats for the most part.

Yep and we dish out student loans like candy with the end result being that tuition gets higher and higher. I heard the other day that student loan debt was approaching a trillion dollars.

Just really sick of it. Is also why I am so scared to go to school. Plus I can't afford it.

Re: Stupid people in this stupid economy, jobs and school
I do not have my degree and im entitled to my 6 figure job. Why is a persons income the determining factor on what they deserve or what they need? If someone is happy working at target then work at target. If you want more learn a way to make more. A college degree was never a means to a high paying job. It was and always will be a tool to help you get what you want.
I'll tell you exactly what your saying comes across as. If you dont have a degree you dont deserve to make more then 30k a year. Honestly that train of thought has always irritated me. You dont need college to make money. You just need to learn the right skill set. A good mechanic can make 60k a year. I turned down a head mechanic job at lexus earning 75k years ago in california because i had already shipped everything back to florida and i do not want to work on cars for a living.
I also find it a bit insulting that you come across like having a degree is what it takes to be entitled to a 6 figure job.Stealthyking liked this post

Re: Stupid people in this stupid economy, jobs and school
DGMC, You misunderstood me.
I do not believe college degree is entering. Thus why I don't have one.
I am talking about 18-20 year olds, with zero to none in experience. Aka only works at McDonald's. Now think they need 6 figures.
Not the guy who climbed the ladder, and worked his ass off.

Re: Stupid people in this stupid economy, jobs and school
Thats a double edged sword. Yeah im older then you so i've been here to see just how much kids have changed. To make it worse i do a lot of work on schools, colleges, and universities. So yeah i know what the kids are like.
Just 2 weekends ago 2 little fuckers at UCF thought they were impressing females by being dressed like MIB. I mean the whole deal black suits, white shirt, tie, and sun glasses. When i heard a small remark about me and my orange shirt i wear now a days because construction sites want that or a vest i simply asked them why they were stupid enough to dress like that walking around campus in 100 degree whether. The girls snickered and walked off. I found out later the females were there because it was new freshmen move in day.

Re: Stupid people in this stupid economy, jobs and school
Then i definitely misunderstood what you were saying. I actually agree. Positions should be filled by the most qualified. That can be schooling or ojt. When you have a tie it comes down to who is more personable and professional. Where you can have a problem with that is many people lack the balls to fire someone before their probationary period is up for not having the necessary skill set to work with others. I always hired whomever i thought was personable even if they lack some of the skills. I can teach anyone how to do the job but i cant teach them how to play well with others. There's only enough room in my company for 1 person to be a dick and im not stepping aside for anyone.
