So your heavily modified car is now able to compete with a stock import? Congrats on that I guess. :-)
The new STIs are not as quick as the older ones. They got too fat. The 06-07 is the fastest. And just like your Chevy, they are easily modded to much more power. It's just a different method. Racing has many forms and many specialist cars. You would destroy me at a drag strip and probably be very close on a road course. My favorite racing is rally. Your car could not touch my times in rally cross and stage rally is out of the question for yours.

Re: Car's and shit...
Who's heavily modified? Like i said not one thing has added for boosting, no programmer, no interior engine mods. Just suspension and a few tricks i know. Plus its not like i wasn't going to need new shocks and shit anyway. Why not spend a bit more and get shit that actually works better? Kind of like when i did my clutch. Why pay 500 for a stock clutch when you can get a lighter better performing one for 200 more? And you never replace the clutch without the flywheel and reverse got fucked so why not rebuild the whole thing? Now you got it all working together so why not lower its center of gravity for better turning? Then why do all that and not replace the rubber with some that actually grab versus spin? At least that was my justification for it all. I just cant seem to come off the money to put an lsx motor in it though.
That being said an sti was never competition.
I guess that would depend on the rally course. Mine is more suited at top end speeds or hole shots then it is at constant up and down. So if its a long course she would do fine but a short one isn't what shes built for. That would take more work and there simply is no where around here for that type of racing.

Your justification sounds a lot like mine :-) one thing naturally leads to another. Mine was that I just wanted a bit less understeer. My original plan was just an upgraded rear sway bar. But if you do that, you may as well do new endlinks and new bushings. Since I did the rear, I had to do the front along with endlinks and bushings. That led to a front strut tower brace which led to coilovers. All of that was an investment that I didn't want to see messed up by the salt in the winter so I had to get a full skid pad too. And on and on...

Yep.....And it was killer.
I can't wait for the next one. Jeremy Clarkson will be driving the new McLaren P1. It has a twin turbo 3.8 Litre gas engine with 727 HP and is supplemented (for the turbo lag) by a 175 HP electric motor. McLaren claims a 0-60 time of 3 seconds. It will likely be the fastest car they have ever had around their track.
And wow.....What a looker!
