Only place left to pickup a game is Gamestop . . .

Hate that place because of their shady practice and now you can add employees to the mix. I've been to Gamestop probable 3-5 times in my life and each time was a bad experience (attempt to sell used games as new, selling games as new with missing items they took out, etc . . ). So today, there was a game that I wanted to pickup and the only place I knew that had it was, well, Gamestop. Since there was no way they could fuck me over with this game, I thought I can just get in and out and shouldn't be any issue. Well by the time the person was ringing me up, he ask if I knew about the membership and if I was interested. Since I don't shop there often, I just politely told him no thanks. Then he question why and just told him when I buy games, Gamestop is usually not in the list of where I buy from (of course saying it politely). His response was "oh" but in a smartass way, tick me off a little but was close to end of getting out of there so I didn't bother asking why he responded that way. He then to proceed to ask me for my information (first name, last name, phone number / email address) and of course I ask what is this for and his response was "I'm gonna start you on trail membership". When I refuse to give him email address, I can see he pop another attitude and tossed down the membership card (I didn't notice until now, that he scanned it during my purchase) in a non-normal way. So once I got my receipt and game, just told him "have a good day" and his response was him just staring at me like I took his piece of candy of something. I just hate that place with a passion.

I guess they get some kind of reward for signing people up for a membership, but when a customer refuses it then the whole situation shouldn't have to get awkward.

Their reward for getting memberships is keeping their job. That's how game stop has that structured.

I have disliked Gamestop for a long, long time. It could just be my experience with the local Gamestops but I can't stand the place. The employees I have dealt with are terrible at their job or their job is terrible. I go in for one game that I can easily find as I know the Xbox games have a green case and learned the alphabet when I was like 2.

But they think I have to have them find it for me and tell me how bad it sucks and how I should buy something else instead. When I tell them no and I just want the game I came for they then try to get me to Put a Warranty plan on the game, Purchase an accessory, Pre-order a game, and sign up for their rewards program.

I would rather just purchase through Amazon and wait a couple of days.

And it is insulting that you pay me $7 bucks for a game you are going to put on the shelf for $35.99 when I walk out the door.
I never miss. I simply fire warning shots.

I've always had good experiences with Gamestop, but the ones I went to in Plano were in a town with multiple private high schools and 4 public ones in addition to all of the other lower schools. The one here at school is in a college town. That is to say that bad service would tank their sales. I've always had people help me who were knowledgeable about the games and equipment. They did put pressure on filling out surveys, but not on memberships (I have one; I go enough to benefit from the benefits, and I like the magazine). Of course, like with memberships, survey completion rate is tied to keeping their job, so I don't mind.
enf-Jesus its been like 12 minutes and you're already worried about stats?! :-P
