Quitting Smoking, a daily update.
This post isn't about receiving comments, receiving praise, or anything of that nature. This post is just an outlet for me to express what it's like day by day when you're going through a quit plan.
My disgusting habit started back when I was a line cook for a local country club. I smoked because everyone else did. I later joined the military and was smoke free for about 6 months. I started back up after a buddy offered me a cig and I didn't refuse. Long story short, I've been smoking for about 13 years now, I have a 4 year old who will be 5 next week, and to be honest, I don't want to smoke anymore.
I'm your typical smoker, I smoke a pack a day, love the coffee cig, the after sex cig, and the after I eat cig/the beer cig.
I've been reading for quite some time on different quit methods and I finally decided how I'm going to do it. I know many of you won't agree with the method I chose, but everyone is different, and this is the way I wanted to do it.
I bought one of those electronic cigarettes, not the cheap gas station ones; a good one. Going back to Monday of this week. After work I drove to a new store in my area that sold these products and I decided to sit down with the owner and have a chat. We talked for about 20 minutes before I decided to make my purchase.
Monday evening around 5 pm I started using the device. It seemed normal, no real issues, didn't get any sort of bad feeling out of it. Tuesday morning was a little challenging, I made up the coffee and went outside with the e-cig. I stood there for a few minutes thinking to myself that this just isn't the same. I pushed through for a bit and eventually made it through the day. About every 1.5-2hrs or so, I would take a few puffs on the e-cigg and my anxiousness would subside.
I'm sitting at my desk, Wednesday morning, and i'm thinking to myself how long am I supposed to deal with being light headed. I read a little bit about it and it turns out that my co2 levels and o2 levels are returning to normal. It's apparently the million other additives in cigarettes that do this to you. It's about quarter to 10 and I haven't had a real cigarette in over 40 hours. I read articles pretty frequently that compare these devices to the patch and the gum. You still get the nicotine, but as long as you limit the use to dire cravings you'll be able to push all the way through. This is the route i'm going for. I need the physical aspect of the smoking and the e-cig provides that. I'm hoping that the rest of this day will go smooth.
I'll let you all know how things are going in the next few hours.

Also.
I took chantix for about 5 days before I had my first panic attack. This was back in April, and I've never had this issue before.
I immediately stopped using it and have been dealing with anxiety ever since(a common side effect that's not advertised). The anxiety was extreme for the first 3 months after, but I'm finally getting back to normal. Still have anxiety but it's minimal, and I know how to control it. DO NOT TAKE CHANTIX!!
