Re: My AR build...
I just bought a SD9VE for stupid cheap off a guy this last week. Going to put a box through it to make sure it is working well and probably give it to my girlfriend.
Taking the rifle to the range for the 3rd time. My range/gun store sold the shotgun to the 'Navy Yard' shooter so I have been avoiding the press for the last few days. Hopefully I can get in there and just be left alone to shoot my 'assault rifle' (I call her Betsy and she is my target rifle, I have no plans to assault humans with it). If there are any reporters I will probably just turn around and go home.
My accuracy @20 yards with iron sights was embarrassing but it isn't the gun. I am an inexperienced rifle shooter. I am sitting in a fold out chair with the magazine resting on the bench. I did notice my groups tightened up a lot when I shot at a smaller target. The whole 'aim small shoot small' seems to be true. I don't have a sand bag or bi-pod so I will just have to get used to resting the rifle on the magazine. At the end of the first two range trips I left the last target for standing shooting. Man that was bad as well. Maybe I can rest my rifle on my shooting bag... hmm
I just need a lot more practice.

Re: My AR build...
Indoor. The farthest I can shoot out to is 21 yards. Yep 21.
I need to hit an outdoor range.
At 20 yards I had a nice 1.5 inch group. The other 10 round groups were... worse. That is the best I have shot so far though. If I try to shoot the larger targets that group just spreads out. I need to have something large enough I can see but small enough that it keeps my groups really tight.
