I never said they were the best movies made...but they are certainly better than the prequels. They certainly weren't children's films either...at least not when they were made. Watch the documentary on Star Wars. A ton of adults were going to see it.

I just don't think VII will be good at all. If Lucas can miss the mark on his own films (the prequels), you can bet your ass that JJ can.

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII "Dear JJ Abrams"

Im a big fan of Star Wars. I want the news one to work. I mean, the new star treks movies got me back into trek and that was JJ. Im sure he has learned a ton from those movies on how to get older properties into new standards. I imagine that if you already have your mind made up that they will suck, then I cant picture what it would take. The prequels were nothing like the OG and I think Lucas meant it to be that way. Wasnt it supposed to show how the Empire tore down all that new and shiny stuff and how it didnt work, except through fear? I think if Jar Jar was just a random annoying dude, instead of part of an entire race of annoying beings, I feel that he would be much easy to dismiss.

I think the Ford, Hamill, Fisher combo would give a good foundation to kick off new stories. No one said they had to be central to the plot.

Could Lucasfilms do like what Marvel is doing and do smaller side movies to a central theme? I kinda remember rumors to that effect, (affect, i forget) Anyways, that could get you your Vadar really "monstering" it up.

I watched some of those Clone Wars cartoons and regardless of what you think of the animation, there are some killer story lines in there. No reason there cant be with the new movies.

Anyways, go back and watch the original with the same high bar set for the prequels and I think you will see they may not make it. Sure, the movies Lucas made may not blow your hair back, but the universe he created cannot be denied its awesomeness.

I agree Zelmon. We see that mentality very often around here actually. The first of 'its' kind will always be better then what comes after in the minds of fans. Very rarely do we see a sequel/prequel stand up to the original.
